Hello, I'm Katherine Delorme. I have a fascination for user experience and user interface design. The more I work on designing and developing websites, the more I become curious about the user's experience. As I progress in design and development, I continue to seek answers to questions on how to make interactions, task completions, and the overall experience better for users.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media - Web Design from the University of Central Florida with six years of experience in the field. My skills started with Back-end and Front-end Web Development. I find that the knowledge I have in these areas help me when executing UX research and laying out UI designs. Understanding the tools, limitations, and hard work that goes into developing, helps me make sound decisions and become a better communicator with other developers. I've worked for the University of Central Florida, Digital Risk, and other large-sized corporations. Contracted projects include work for design agencies such as Knight Agency and Findsome & Winmore, and the Angular based company VCreative. My abilities has even taken me abroad, where I worked as a web designer and developer for a company in Japan.

- Irene Shih's, Senior UX Designer at Apple, favorite quote from the Awwwards Conference 2017
I am learning the Japanese language. Studying a new language has placed me in a mindset of how gaining fundamental skills for retaining information can be accomplished. There are multiple popular techniques, methods, and apps that garner recognition. In general, I find it to be a fun puzzle game. Having serious efforts towards my learning journey has introduced me to a community, I might have otherwise missed. It would be delightful to be able to do research and design layouts that would reach this community.
By learning Japanese, I gained a new perspective of user experience that is different from my western perspective. It also piqued my interest in eastern design, practices, culture, and history. I want to learn more about these differences and carry the knowledge gained into solutions in future designs.
I am also curious about designs aimed towards children. For example, the Cartoon Network App and Nickelodeon App are prominent apps with young audiences. A young audience's thinking patterns and abilities differ from adults. Children have different pain points, life experiences, limitations, and capabilities. A difference can be seen in how companies such as Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon deliver messages to children audiences in addition to their overall message. Products aimed at children evoke bright feelings of cheerfulness and fun, which tugs at a part of me that greatly enjoys these concepts.
Things were actually making sense after having a quick break down and being thrown into the fire to learn.

I joined the Orlando Japanese Language Meetup to meet other language learners and find a space to improve my Japanese. Soon after joining, I went from member to Event Coordinator and am now the meetup Organizer.
The first Meetup event I ever hosted was Let's Dance おどりましょう - Friday Night Swing Dance. Since then, I have hosted 137+ meetup events and attended 326+ events. Highlighted events include countless Beginner’s Japanese Language Study Grammar Lessons, Let's Eat Ramen ラーメンを食べましょう, Let's Do Aikido 合気道をしよう (あいきどうをしよう), Let's Talk With A Japanese Person, Okonomiyaki Party, Let's Hang Out At The Orlando Japan Festival, and 🧘♀️ Yoga in Japanese!!! 😲😱 一緒にヨガしましょう.
